Medium to large crested parrots. Strong flyers with often raucous calls. Feed on seeds, blossoms and roots. Some eat insects. Varied colours: black to white.
Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoos (Calyptorhynchus funereus) appear in flocks. Yellow cheek, with most body feathers tipped with pale yellow. Long tail feathers with yellow panel. Females have a pale bill, with a grey eye ring and larger cheek patch. Found in open forest and farmland.
Galahs (Eolophus (cacatua) roseicapillus) are grey and pink cockatoos, with male and female birds having similar colouring. Males have a slightly larger pink/white cap on top of head. Found in woodlands and open grasslands and parks.
