Small birds, which feed on insects. Males can be brightly coloured.

Rose Robin (Petroica rosea): Male has distinctive rose-red breast, deep grey head, back and throat, with white underbelly and outer tail feathers. Female has greyish-brown body and wings with pale pink chest.

Eastern Yellow Robin (Eopsaltria australis): both male and female have yellow underparts with grey head and olive back. Wing bar and tail are brown-green.

Red Capped Robin (Petroica goodenovii): Males have red cap and front, with black face, back and wings. Wings have bold white wing bar. Female has light brown body, darker wings and red wash on cap, some have slight red wash on breast.
